Travel Awards

Many thanks to all of the talented graduate students who applied for these awards. Travel Award decisions have been made and the winners have been notified. Travel awards will be presented by Professor Sheila Henderson at the Wine and Cheese poster session at 5:00 p.m.

Two travel awards ($500 CDN each) have been created in memory of leading researchers in the field of DCD. In 2012, Dr. Sheila Henderson created an award in recognition of the theoretical contribution her husband, Dr. Leslie Henderson (1942-2011), had made to the work they did together. In 2021, Dr. David Sugden’s wife, Lorrie, a special needs teacher, is creating a new award in memory of her husband David (1945-2019). These awards will be offered by the Scientific Committee to two graduate students who propose an abstract that is highly relevant to the conference theme. In order to receive the award, a graduate student must have registered for the conference and travelled to the conference to present a paper or poster.  No application is required.

Leslie and Sheila Henderson Travel Award

This award will be granted to a doctoral candidate or post-doctoral fellow who receives a high score on an abstract accepted for presentation. The focus of the work to be reported must be on the enhancement of our understanding of DCD as a developmental disorder. Preference will be given to graduate students travelling from outside the host country.

David Sugden Travel Award

This award will be granted to a doctoral candidate or post-doctoral fellow who receives a high score on an abstract accepted for presentation. The focus of the work to be reported must be on intervention for persons with DCD (children or adults). Preference will be given to graduate students who are currently, or were, practitioners (educators or clinicians).
